Things You will Need
Paper – If you want to draw a banana, the fundamental material necessary is paper; however, if preferred, you can use a drawing pad or sketchbook. For this project specifically I used 300 gsm watercolor paper – yet any type of paper is suitable!
Pencil – To create the perfect drawing, I recommend using a 6B pencil to draw its outlines. However, feel free to select whichever pencil you prefer!
Eraser – A must-have for any artist, an eraser is a valuable tool to not only correct mistakes, but also smooth out unwanted lines.
Fine Line Pen – To create the ultimate outline, I suggest using a black fine line pen. However, you are welcome to pick your preferred black pen or marker instead!
Watercolor Paints – To create a beautiful, illuminated drawing, I chose to use watercolor paints. However, if you’re looking for something with more vibrancy and opacity, then acrylic or oil-based paints are perfect alternatives! Some also prefer branded markers for coloring.
Paintbrush – To provide a stunning outcome to your banana drawing project, you must have the best paintbrush on hand. I personally used an adept size 12 round brush for my own painting venture and was pleased with the results.
How to Draw Banana Step-by-Step
If you’ve ever looked at a banana and thought that it would be easy to draw, you’d be right! In this step-by-step guide I will show you how to draw a realistic looking banana in some simple steps. So let’s get started!
Drawing a single banana is easier than a bunch of bananas. Just follow some steps and you will be able to draw a banana easily. Let’s get started!
Step-1: Since the design of the bananas are somewhat curvature, it’s no wonder that I will start with a curve line. So, pick up the pencil and draw a curved line starting from the right above side going down to the left end. It will be the backside of the fruit.
Step-2: Now that you are done with one side of the fruit, draw the other one. Here, you have to again draw a curve line which needs to be sharper than the previous one. Make sure to leave gap between the upper and lower side of the curves.
Step-3: As you have got the body shape of the fruit, it’s time to draw the stalk of the banana. Using a small square draw the stalk over the space you left above. Don’t forget to draw a small circle to make the stalk perfect.
Step-4: After drawing the stalk, draw end draw the end part of banana using a small half circle. It will be on the lower side of the fruit.
Step-5: In this stage, draw some details on the banana body to look it more realistic. For this, you can just use nothing more than some curve lines. And erase the unwanted lines to look it more perfect.
Color It
Finally, use your favorite colors to color the banana. You can use yellow, brown and green colors to give a realistic look. Here, I have used yellow and brown color to make look just like a real one! Don’t forget to outline the drawing using a fine liner pen or marker.
